An abundance has been talked in the papers just a while ago regarding the bingo industry struggling because of the cigarette ban in England. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge tax cuts to help keep the industry alive. But does the online version of this quintessential game offer a reprieve, or might it not compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an age old game normally played by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game lately had undergone a recent increase in appeal with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo parlours instead of the bars on a Saturday night. All this is about to be reversed with the introduction of the cigarette ban throughout Britain.

Players will no longer be able to smoke at the same time marking numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public place will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most popular areas where players like to smoke.

The effects of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already prohibited in the bingo halls. Profits have plummeted and the business is literally struggling for its life. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not forgotten this familiar game?

The answer is on the net. People realize that they can enjoy bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cigarette and still enjoy huge jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course betting on on the internet is unlikely to replace the communal part of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the law has left many bingo players with no choice.
