An abundance has been stated in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry being hurt as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in the UK. Conditions have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive aid to help keep the industry alive. But will the net version of this quintessential game offer a salvation, or will it never compare to its bricks and mortar relative?

Bingo has been an ancient game usually enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had experienced a recent comeback in appeal with younger members of society opting to hit the bingo halls in place of the clubs on a weekend. This is all about to change with the legislating of the smoking ban across Britain.

No longer will enthusiasts be allowed to puff on cigarettes while dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 all public locations will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favored areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The effects of the smoking ban can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already forbidden in the bingo parlors. Numbers have dropped and the business is absolutely struggling for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Obviously they have not given up on this age old game?

The answer is online. Gamblers are now realizing that they can participate in bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and cig and still enjoy huge jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course playing on the internet will never replace the collective aspect of going down to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left a lot of bingo players with little option.
