Much has been talked in the press not long ago about the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the cigarette ban in the UK. Conditions have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for huge aid to help keep the businesses afloat. But can the online version of this classic game present a lifeline, or will it not compare to its real life peer?

Bingo is an classic game normally played by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game of late had experienced a recent increase in appeal with younger people opting to visit the bingo parlours instead of the bars on a Saturday night. This is all about to be destroyed with the legislating of the anti smoking law around United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be able to smoke while dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public location will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favorite places where people like to puff on cigarettes.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo parlors. Players have dropped and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Surely they have not forgotten this age old game?

The answer is on the internet. Gamblers realize that they can play bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a cocktail and fag and still have a chance at big jackpots. This is a recent development and has timed itself almost perfectly with the anti cigarette law.

Of course betting on on the net can never replace the communal aspect of going over to the bingo hall, but for a group of people the law has left a good many bingo enthusiasts with no alternative.
