An abundance has been talked in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry being hit as a result of the cigarette ban in the United Kingdom. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to assist in keeping the industry alive. However can the web version of this quintessential game provide a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its real life relative?

Bingo is an enduring game normally played by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game recently had seen a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger men and women opting to visit the bingo parlours instead of the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the enforcement of the anti cigarette law across England and Wales.

No longer will gamblers be able to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public places will not be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite locations where players enjoy smoking.

The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlours. Players have dropped and the industry is absolutely struggling for its life. But where did all the players go? Certainly they have not cast aside this ancient game?

The answer is on the internet. Gamblers realize that they can gamble on bingo using their computer while enjoying a drink and cigarette and still have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on on the net will never replace the collective part of heading down to the bingo parlour, but for a group of men and women the law has left many bingo players with little alternative.
